Mount Engadine Lodge Wedding Photographer in Kananaskis

Nicole and Peter's intimate wedding took place just as the seasons were changing from summer to fall and, as their Mount Engadine Lodge wedding photographer, I wanted to capture the changing colours as much as possible. There's a few well-known wedding photo locations in Kananaskis but since I do a lot of hiking in the area I had a few new locations I wanted to show them.

Wild Landscapes for this Mount Engadine Lodge Wedding

Even though Mount Engadine Lodge is just a 30 minute drive away from Canmore and the Trans-Canada Highway, it feels like it's tucked away in the remote wilderness of the Canadian Rockies! As an avid hiker, skier and climber (and Kananaskis wedding photographer), I spend a lot of time in Kananaskis exploring the beautiful areas set aside for recreation. The mountains around Mount Engadine Lodge are particularly rugged and beautiful, reminding me of the peaks visible on the Icefields Parkway just North of Lake Louise! Mount Engadine Lodge is perfect as a wedding venue for those that love the wilderness and solitude of Kananaskis, and with plenty of rooms, a patio for outdoor ceremonies and a restaurant on site, it's a great place for an intimate wedding.

Engagement photos in the Mount Engadine Lodge area are spectacular too!

An Emotional Wedding Ceremony in the Great Outdoors

When I first met Nicole and Peter, their love for the outdoors quickly became apparent, so when they asked me to be their Kananaskis wedding photographer I was elated! I arrived for their Mount Engadine Lodge wedding on a warm September day. The mountains had a skiff of new snow and the fall colours were at their peak (for the Rockies). The wedding ceremony took place on the back patio of the main lodge overlooking The Fist, Commonwealth Peak and Mount Birdwood, which are some of the most dramatic looking peaks in the area. The ceremony was very emotional and as soon as the vows were spoken the tears started flowing! With two cameras around my neck I worked to capture the guests' reactions as well as the bride and groom's tears of happiness. I felt extremely lucky to have experienced this moment as their Kananaskis wedding photographer.

Mount Engadine Lodge Wedding Photographers Love Fall Colours

Fall colours in the Rockies aren't quite as impressive as those out East, but as a Mount Engadine Lodge wedding photographer, I know a few great spots where the golden Larches can be seen. Additionally, there are several species of deciduous trees that also change colour and have yellow or orange leaves. After their ceremony, we travelled to 3 locations nearby to take some couples photos. All of these locations were chosen to show off the beauty of the mountains and it was important that the lighting was also right at this time of day. We stopped at a small pond near the Mount Buller parking lot as well as several other roadside locations that made the shoot convenient while maximizing the number of locations we could visit. Afterwards, we returned to Mount Engadine Lodge for a small reception outdoors and I was able to get some great candid photos of family and friends mingling with the bride and groom. I wish Nicole and Peter only the best in their new life together and I'm thrilled that they chose me to be their Mount Engadine Lodge wedding photographer!
