We've had a lot of unusual weather this year in the Rockies. We got nearly a foot of snow in September, followed by unseasonably warm temperatures leading up to Christmas. The snow came and went several times, leading to a lot of muddy trails and confused skiers. When Courtney and Josh contacted me about taking some engagement photos they made it clear that they wanted to capture the snowy wonderland that is the Canadian Rockies in the winter. After being stymied by warm weather a few times we were able to work out a date right after a snowfall. I was a bit nervous leaving Canmore that morning because it was still snowing and visibility was very low, but as soon as I passed Banff the skies started to clear and we had beautiful blue skies above Lake Louise. We photographed at a few locations including at the famous Morant's Curve where we got lucky and had three trains pass by in only fifteen minutes! I had a lot of fun photographing Courtney and Josh, and they were wonderful to work with. I love how her red skirt matches the locomotive and train cars while contrasting the the blue sky on this beautiful winter day. Congratulations you two and I wish you all the best at your upcoming wedding and your new life together!
